The Sydney restaurant scene is never stagnant and our local hood of Potts Point is no exception to the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry. In the past month alone, we have bid farewell to the beloved Et Al and clocked the rebranding of House Bistrot. But amidst these changes, exciting new additions are also on the horizon.

One such addition is The Hook, an oyster bar set to open in the Roslyn/Bayswater Quarter. From the team behind Australian Bartender magazine, this will be their third venue in Kings Cross, slated to open its doors in May.

The prospect of another unique establishment joining the likes of Piccolo Bar and Vermuteria is enticing. With each venue offering its own distinct cocktail and food menus, as well as fabulous interior design that gives a nod to Sydney’s nightlife history, patrons will have the opportunity to bar-hop between establishments.

As we approach the winter months, we eagerly anticipate exploring new venues and continuing to enjoy the current stable of dining rooms that contribute to the vibrant nightlife of Potts Point, Surry Hills and Darlinghurst. Each inner city Sydney precinct offers its own array of dining delights and atmospheres to be savoured and celebrated.

Here's to embracing the ever-changing landscape of our local dining scene and continuing to support our favourite establishments as they evolve and innovate.

Cheers to new discoveries and local favourites alike!

House x Bloom Rebrand

After six wonderful years, our beloved local spot, House Bistro, has undergone a transformation, bringing both of their brands together under one new name: Bloom Potts Point.

While the name may have changed, the passion and dedication of the team remain the same as they continue to bring a taste of Italy to Potts Point.

They are excited to offer a range of food & beverage experiences:

  • Aperitivo hour, from 3 pm Wednesday to Saturday, perfect for unwinding after a long day.

  • Locals' favourite sourdough pizzas served by night, ensuring every bite is a delight.

  • A stunning private dining room available to host your next celebration, creating memorable moments with friends or family.

  • Live Jazz Night Dinners on Saturday nights, adding a touch of musical flair to your dining experience.

For those who adore Bloom coffees and pastries in the morning – who can resist those cinnamon rolls – or alfresco lunches in the Roslyn Quarter piazza, the cafe opens its doors from 8 am Wednesday - Sunday.

Additionally, Chef/Owner Mauro is offering pasta workshops where you can learn the art of crafting fresh pasta like an Italian nonna, in the company of friends or family. Spend an hour mastering the craft of pasta-making, then indulge in a two-hour feast of your delicious creations.

And don't forget to check out their new website, where you can explore all the exciting offerings.

We wish the team Buona fortuna for this new chapter!

Et Al Closure

Recently one of our all-time favourite locals Et Al held their last service after 6.5 years in Potts Point.

Owner Stephen stayed the course throughout this time - despite four chefs coming and going. Opening as a take away service during the bad old COVID lock down days, always remaining upbeat & friendly and maintaining the high quality of the menu.

Our guests were always smitten to be dining smack in the middle of the Llankelly Lane vibe, under twinkly fairy-lights with a fine view of the passing colourful pedestrian traffic. A bevvy of European waiters passed through charming us at the table as we dined on great contemporary Australian food.

Our most recent favourite was the retro-fitted Prawn Toast but we still remember the golden taste of the maple syrup baked potatoes created by Chef/Co-owner Daniel. The dry French Rose was a treat too!

Et Al was not just a place to eat; it was a hub for community gatherings, from media famils to book club dinners. It is these moments shared with friends and loved ones that we will cherish long after Et Al's last service. Stephen and his crew poured their hearts into every aspect of the restaurant, from the friendly service to the well-curated wine list. Their dedication and passion will be sorely missed, as will the sight of Stephen waving to us as we strolled down the lane.

While it's tough to say goodbye, we are grateful for the memories created at Et Al and eagerly anticipate bumping into familiar faces on future dining adventures.

Thank you, Stephen and the entire Et Al team, for the wonderful experiences and the lasting impact you had on our community.
