Like everyone else we have been caught out by CV19 in terms of where we shop for our weekly fruit & vege.

Normally you would find us at Kings Cross markets on a sunny Saturday morning stocking-up from Rita's Farm (who are also offering an online service that we will be trying out), but now that markets are no longer operating we have turned to online ordering of our weekly shop.

We have always wanted to try The Locals Market (TLM) and CV19 is a good excuse. Because they are based in Surry Hills and we are in the eastern suburbs, we always stuck to what was available up the road. Call it inner city Sydney lazy:) Normally the market takes place on the rooftop of the Paramount building but due to social distancing rules and other factors the ‘market’ is now available as a pick-up service on Wednesdays between 9am - 12pm.

A dear friend of ours who lives next door to The Paramount Coffee Project, where the Wednesday morning pick-up takes place and is sadly separated from his partner by CV19 conditions, so we are going halves on a bag of goodies from TLM. A perfect solution to help each other out economically and have a valid reason to meet-up briefly for the pick-up once a week.

Talia Smith, who runs TLM, puts out a regular newsletter updating her customers on happenings in the F&V community of farmers and giving helpful tips on how to treat your veggies kindly. We will include some of her tips on our FB page for those of you having a renewed interest in the produce you eat at home.

As well as F&V you can also purchase from the small but good pantry which includes: fresh small batch tahini, iggy's sourdough, spelt + ficelle, Australian olives in EVOO w/ thyme, rosemary, bay, red chilli, & lemon, garlic+ toasted fennel seeds and eggs.

Other details:

  • Pick-up in a car is contactless

  • Availability of produce is limited so don’t dilly-dally

  • Order online at least 2-3 days in advance

Stay strong and healthy dear TSC lovers. x
