Next week it is a certain Chief Guides birthday!

And she has an idea to help promote her favourite small bars and restaurants new home delivery and take out services: she is asking all her online guests to order their celebratory cocktails and accompanying foods from their nearest venue. Guests will also be able to buy the birthday girl a drink! Birthdays are about indulgence and in this time of iso this idea feels like the closest version of hedonism while staying within the bounds of government rules. And most importantly supporting our fave local food & beverage providers at the same time.

Seven years ago when we first started The Sydney Connection - as a day tour business of food, fashion and design - we received the support of a few key restaurants & bars. Eventually establishing TSC as the leading dining walk experience of inner city Sydney for visitors and locals alike.

We are using the disruption to normal service during CV19 to return the favour and support their delivery and pick-up services by posting their latest offers on our platforms. This is a unique opportunity to taste your favourite dishes, from some of Sydney's best restaurants & bars in your home environment at very reasonable price points.

The original Pocket Bar - part of the House of Pocket stable of bars - on the corner of Crown and Burton Streets in deep, dark Darlo was one of the first places we took guests on our Darlinghurst dining walks. With graphic art lining the stripped back industrial space ( artwork that included beautiful women’s faces, gorillas and super hero language) the well-loved and comfortable vintage chesterfields and velvet armchairs created a great vibe for a small narrow room. With cheeky Charlie behind the bar, everyone was guaranteed a fun start to the night at Pocket. The site was previously a car mechanics garage and one of the first small bars to open in inner city Sydney when the licensing laws changed.

We also invited the crew to be part of our first Crafty Dining on Foley event as part of Good Food Month and Sydney Craft Week. Just remembering Charlies fun bright blue & red concoctions for that night, recipe attached on a wooden peg to each small glass bottle with a red/white stripy straw, makes us smile. Ensuring a bouncy start to the night for our local guests at The Tribe store & gallery.

These days at the location of the original bar you will find the delightful Gorgeous George - run by the team behind fellow Darlinghurst bar The Long Goodbye. But you can still find the wonderful pirate themed Button Bar in Surry Hills or Stitch Bar in the CBD for immediate post-work drinks - when life goes back to normal. Both are dressed in the usual House of Pocket style of shabby chic meets hipster cool. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmospheric belay the fact that your ‘quiet drink’ can build into a big party night super quick!

So the good news is you can now enjoy some of that bounce at your place as The House of Pocket new online store is now LIVE. It's even easier to enjoy your favourite adult beverage whilst you're relaxing on the couch, binging on your favourite shows. Everything from beer tinnies, cocktail hip flasks, wine and even a cheeky F*Ck COVID tee is available through their new shopify store.

Pocket Bar was one of the first small bars to open in inner city Sydney when the licensing laws changed, so we want them to survive this hiccup and come out the other side strong.

So order that cocktail now!
