The days are stretching longer, the air is warming, and we can already feel the buzz of summer arriving in Sydney town. It’s the perfect time to wander, discover, and enjoy everything our precincts have to offer. This month brings a wonderful addition to our Potts Point tour offer.

New Player | Caravin

We are excited to announce the addition of Caravin to our Potts Point dining experience.

Tucked into the elegant two-level Art Deco space on the ground floor of the New Yorker building and seating just 24 diners, Caravin has been punching above its weight since first opening two years ago on Ward Avenue.

Caravin has fast become a Potts Point favourite, the intimate salon giving the small but efficient team the freedom to be playful and inventive. Offering a weekly-changing menu that leans into rustic French flavours, dictated by seasonal produce. Think smoked beetroot tartare with wasabi and pomme gaufrettes, or caramelised scallops paired with a vichyssoise of artichoke, leeks, potatoes, onions and cream.

The vibe shifts with the seasons: on warm summer evenings aperitifs flow on the alfresco deck, with the footpath a riot of long limbs, small expensive dogs and stylish people.

Eileen’s Bar Closure

Last month the team at our all time happy-place Eileen’s Bar, of the Four Pillars Gin empire on Crown Street, Surry Hills announced the closure of their Sydney flagship.

We have always received wonderful service from the enthusiastic + fun crew at FP. With innovative cocktails and generous sharing of booze knowledge maximising the experience. We loved hearing the buzz of the busy bar as we walked up the dark staircase into that well-dressed, juniper blue & teak room. Our guests felt special as they were served their seasonal G+T from the Eileen Stil, accompanied by a detailed description of the ingredients in the gin and how to best enjoy imbibing.

The Maybe Sammy Group are taking over the space for their quirky El Primo Sanchez bar, which is relocating from its present digs on Oxford Street in Paddington. So there is good stuff to look forward too.

We wish the team well on their new adventures!
