Seven years ago, when we first started The Sydney Connection - as a day tour business of food, fashion and design - we received the support of a few key restaurants & bars. Eventually establishing TSC as the leading dining walk experience of inner-city Sydney for visitors and locals alike.

We are using the disruption to normal service during CV19 to return the favour and support their delivery and pick-up services by posting their latest offers on our platforms.

This is a unique opportunity to taste your favourite dishes, from some of Sydney's best restaurants & bars in your home environment at very reasonable price points.

Our long term relationship with Golden Age Cinema began in 2016 when we began our Sydney Mardi Gras Festival dining walk event at the art deco bar which was formerly the offices of Paramount Pictures.

Imbibing in a cocktail named after a classic film, a side of popcorn served in a cocktail shaker or a decadent antipasto platter to share. The welcoming low-lit wood paneled room with the handsome oval communal table and funky Italian 70’s style chandelier, was an instant hit with our festival guests and convinced us that this was the place to begin all our Surry Hills dining walks.

Arriving fifteen minutes earlier than our guests to soak up the ambience and have a quick chat with the bar staff and a few sips of prosecco, was always a secret pleasure. Sometimes we would walk into a space populated by small, tight groups of conversing hipster designers and architects recovering from a big day in the studio. Other nights the intimate room would be bursting with excited chatter & laughter and heaving with the fans of the latest indie-band due to play later that night on the golden mirrored stage.

The first time we took two UK travel agents, from a company that have gone on to be our biggest supplier of bookings, there was a book launch happening and we were worried that all the noise and crammed room would not impress our VIP guests. But the ladies loved it - reminding us to never underestimate the power of celebratory energy to impress your visitors and make them feel part of the local community for a few hours.

So we are thrilled to introduce you to Bottle Rocket - the new an online bottle shop and candy bar by Golden Age Cinema & Bar offering quality wine, craft beer, spirits and their own small batch bottled cocktails. Snacks like their signature popcorn and famous Gelato Messina choc tops are also available.

Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.
— Rick Blaine - CASABLANCA, 1942

The fun continues with movie themed combos of booze, sweets and popcorn with titles such as Call You by Your Name and Lost in Translation. This is a treat for cinemaphiles who want to recreate the Golden Age vibe at home, making the screening of an old favourite or the latest release an occasion on your coach during lockdown. We highly recommend purchasing one of their packs, choosing a great film, dimming the lights and settling in for the night.
