Inner City Dining Tours of Sydney

Hello!

The Sydney Connection curates dining tours around our favourite Sydney precincts of Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and Potts Point.

Accompanied by a well-connected guide, our tours are aimed at visitors and Sydneysiders who want to go ‘where the locals go’ for inspiring food, good service and cool interiors.

We offer our guests the chance to experience Sydney's fabulous small bar culture and dine at multiple inner-city Sydney restaurants in one evening. It's a great opportunity if you are only spending a short time in our city and want to gain an understanding of our food culture and night time vibe.

Wine & dine with a local!

Surry Hills | Thursday

We begin our dining tour of Surry Hills at Eileen’s Bar - part of the Four Pillars gin empire. Positioned on a tree lined street featuring grand Victorian terraces dressed in filigree.

With cuisines from Italy, France and the Middle East you are spoiled for choice on the menu in Surry Hills. Elegant restored pubs rub shoulders with on-trend cafes and restaurants with secret, lush courtyards. There’s a relaxed vibe with fabulous fashion and design retail windows competing for your eye as you stroll down Crown Street taking in the scene.

Darlinghurst |

Wednesday

Housed in a smart Modernist building with a stylish curved façade and al fresco dining, Bei in the Taylor Square precinct is where our Darlinghurst dining tour begins. A contemporary dining room with a Scandinavian design vibe, featuring a seasonal Italian/Mediterranean menu.

Located a few steps from the famous Darlinghurst Rainbow crossing and the high-energy pulse of Oxford Street. You can feel the grit that holds together this nightlife precinct, building on its rich history of gay-culture and the darker side of Sydney’s nightlife.

Potts Point |

Sunday

Vermuteria is a modern day homage to old-school European wine and aperitivo bars. We kick off with a Spanish mezze board accompanied by a seasonal cocktail.

Potts Point has been entertaining locals & visitors alike since the 1940’s and she does it well. Admire the grandness of Macleay Street’s Art Deco apartment blocks at the ‘Paris end’. Whether you’re dining alfresco on a vibrant laneway with seventies-style lights or in a grand terrace house on Kellett Street, you will feel the history amidst the innovative menus and cocktails.

MAREE SHEEHAN - chief guide

Maree first started conducting dining walks in January 2013, after an internet date with a guy called Oscar from Houston, Texas. After spending the day showing her guest all her favourite local haunts, Oscar complimented Maree on her unique tour guide style and suggested she do it as a living.

As a well-connected Potts Point local with a great network of small bars and restaurants Maree has strong relationships with the restaurateurs of inner-city Sydney, enabling her to create unique experiences for her guests ensuring a consistently high standard experience.

Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, Maree considers herself a Sydneysider after twenty-five years residence. She first visited Sydney as a twenty-one year old tourist, by 1998 Maree was a permanent resident of Sydney and fast falling in love with a Sydney guy and the city itself. The energy, the outdoor lifestyle and the abundance of fabulous food, good service and cool décor trends ensured that she stayed longer than the romance lasted.
