House x Bloom Rebrand

House x Bloom Rebrand

After six wonderful years, our beloved local spot, House Bistro, has undergone a transformation, bringing both of their brands together under one new name: Bloom Potts Point. While the name may have changed, the passion and dedication of the team remain the same as they continue to bring a taste of Italy to Potts Point.

Sydney is now OPEN!

Sydney is now OPEN!

Congratulations Sydney! You made it to the other side of 107 days in Lockdown 2.0. Looking forward to full and buzzy restaurants, sitting at the bar and chatting to our fave staff, making new friends, not wearing a mask outdoors and heading to the cinema on a lazy Friday afternoon. Here's a few shots from our lockdown walks and home delivery experiences from around the hood.

Introducing: Soul Deli

Introducing: Soul Deli

The idea for SOUL Deli - Sydney’s first Korean brunch café/deli - came from a spur-of-the-moment pivot. When the nation went into the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 and husband-and-wife team chef Daero Lee and Illa Kim had to close their Surry Hills contemporary Korean restaurant SOUL Dining, they launched BOWL by SOUL to offer freshly made takeaway rice bowls. The pivot proved hugely popular with locals, many who returned daily, to enjoy the affordable and authentic Korean rice bowls (deopbap), homemade with fresh ingredients.

Market Pick-Up: The Locals Market

Market Pick-Up: The Locals Market

Like everyone else we have been caught out by CV19 in terms of where we shop for our weekly fruit & vege. Normally you would find us at Kings Cross markets on a sunny Saturday morning stocking-up from Rita's Farm (who are also offering an online service that we will be trying out), but now that markets are no longer operating we have turned to online ordering of our weekly shop.

One2One Ponsonby

One2One Ponsonby

Re-discovering Ponsonby Rd on this trip back to our hometown of Auckland.. One2One Cafe is where the original Atomic cafe used to be and next door to our favourite Magazino store. Co-owner Chris Priestly has put the focus back on the beans and the food - with his former chef from Kerouac days the gifted Mark Nicholson in the kitchen.

 Henry Lees - Redfern

Henry Lees - Redfern

Finally checked out Henry Lee's Redfern on the weekend, thanks to a girlfriends suggestion. We had seen the street art on Insta' but didn't click that this was where it lived! Always a fan of Lynes & Co - this one designed by the talented Gemma O'Brien (also known as Mseaves101). If you like your cafes well-hidden and designed this is the place for you. However you may want to take a cushion for the metal rung chairs if your on the bony side and have a bit of time up your sleeve.
